A message from our colleagues at IACAPAP
We are delighted to invite you to submit nominations for the 2025 Helmut Remschmidt Research Seminar (HRRS2025) which will be held from 7-12 September 2025 at Kloster Irsee, Germany. The HRRS2025 will have a particular focus on emerging researchers from the European Region with a theme of “Empowering child and adolescent mental health through evidence-based approaches”.
Background
The Helmut Remschmidt Research Seminar (HRRS) Series is a prestigious international seminar series organized under the auspices of the IACAPAP (International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions). The format is a 5-day residential research training workshop for 24 emerging child and adolescent mental health researchers, organized in the country that will host the next IACAPAP Congress. The seminar combines teaching/discussion and mentored work on research projects. Topics include research design, presentation skills, review etc. The main purpose of the seminars is to inspire young and emerging researchers to do research in child and adolescent mental health and build a community of CAMH researchers. The product of the research workshops is submission of an abstract for the next IACAPAP World Congress in Hamburg, Germany, from 1-4 July 2026.
The 2025 Helmut Remschmidt Research Seminar (HRRS2025)
The 2026 IACAPAP Congress will be held in Hamburg, Germany. For this reason, the HRRS2025 will take place in the same country. Dates and location of the Seminar
The seminar will be held from 7-12 September 2025, in the Monastery of Kloster Irsee, in Bavaria, near Munich.

The HRRS aims to support early-career, emerging child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals who are active in research. For the 2025 Seminar, we will prioritise candidates who are either currently in training at institution in the Europe region or who have completed training at a European institution in the last 3 years. We will be particularly interested to have a mix of candidates from across Europe and across professional backgrounds/disciplines. Please note that candidates who have previously participated in one of the IACAPAP Early Career Programmes (including the HRRS or the Donald J Cohen Fellowship Programme) will not be considered. Applicants in senior clinical or academic posts, and those with extensive research experience will also not be considered. Candidates from outside the Europe region will be considered, but they will need to provide a clear motivation indicating intention and/or evidence of working or collaborating with child & adolescent mental health teams or individuals in European countries.
