Lina Gega is Professor of Mental Health at the University of York and Honorary Nurse Consultant at Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Trust, with a PhD in Health Services Research from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She is a Joint Editor of CAMH.
She has been leading NIHR-funded research with children, young people and adults affected by depression, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and psychosis/severe mental illness. Her expertise is in cognitive behaviour therapy and in the clinical utility of digital technologies as means to specialist interventions for mental health.
Apart from her academic leadership roles at King’s College London, Norwich Medical School and Hull York Medical School, Lina was clinical lead with teams that commissioned (Norfolk) and provided (Northumberland) primary care psychological therapy services. She works with publishers, universities, NHS services, charities and grant awarding bodies as research advisor and reviewer to support high standards in the conduct and reporting of research. She has published over 60 papers, books and book chapters, and served as editor for ‘Cogent Psychology’ and ‘Frontiers in Psychiatry’.
